The party for this six-year-old celebrated the birthday girl’s hobby: gardening. Food enhanced the theme: garden veggies, flower sandwiches, pretty chocolate-covered Oreos, brownie bites with handmade candy veggies, pudding dirt with hand-stamped spoons and berry candies. We created garden-related activities, including Pin the Tomato on the Vine, a Bug Toss, Make a Flower Necklace and planting terrariums with homemade accessories, like toadstools, birds, squirrels and pumpkins. We finished the fun with a handmade beehive pinata. Decorations included red tulle, honeycomb tissue balls, tissue pompoms, moss balls and lots of butterflies. An astroturf tablecloth and garden gnome added a fun element to the dessert table, and the chandelier over the table featured a swarm of bees hovering over a vase of flowers. We welcomed guests with balloons hanging from a tree, a “Welcome to the Garden” sign and a #6 door hanger.
